While the majority of reviews glow with praise, some diners mention occasional inconsistencies in saltiness, particularly in dishes like the fried chicken. These comments suggest that seasoning may sometimes vary depending on the day or chef, which can lead to different taste experiences.
Additionally, a few customers have expressed a wish for a more extensive drink menu, particularly beyond the popular milk tea offerings. Though the current selections cater well to the main meal themes, some patrons desire additional variety in beverages to complement their meals more fittingly.
The casual atmosphere, while cherished, might not suit everyone looking for a more upscale dining experience. Diners seeking exclusivity or an intimate setting may feel the vibrancy could detract from a quieter meal.
Hidden gem of Manchester. Traditional Hong Kong Beef brisket is recommended. It is quite suitable for gathering of friends.
I've been looking forward going here since I read Jay Rayner’s excellent review. I've never been to Hong Kong so I can't vouch for any authenticity, but I can say that the sweet and sour pork and the salt and pepper pork were both easily the best versions of these that I've ever eaten. Not only with the flavours incredible but the pork was astonishingly tender. I'll definitely be coming back here.
we had mapo tofu and salt and pepper pork. they were both very nice and very generous portions! the staff were friendly and welcoming
First time here, will definitely come again. Food is delicious, decent quality at reasonable price. Service extremely good. Miss their Hong Kong style milk tea. No complaints.
It’s the best Chinese restaurant ever I tried in the UK! I tried Sweet & Sour Pork with Rice, Curry Beef Brisket and Beef Tendon rice and a French toast. The food taste just same as the one in Hong Kong. Sweet & Sour Pork with Rice - The skin of the pork is crunchy with juice inside. The sweet and sour sauce just right with the taste, not too strong. What surprised me there is fresh pineapple instead of canned fruit. The Curry Beef Brisket and Beef Tendon rice - The beef brisket and tendon are very soft and the curry sauce is strong. Yum! A bit spicy. French toast - Nothing can beat a freshly made french toast. You can see the passion of the chef from the home-made syrup. The staff are all friendly and nice to customers. If you are looking for the Hong Kong style food, Sakura will never disappointed you.
Sakura is a cosy eatery with great food. Favourite dishes to order are: beef brisket with curry sauce, lemon iced tea and the salted sugar chicken wings. Often come here inbetween busy periods and it’s great to have the feeling of a nice home cooked meal
A very good Hong Kong style restaurant, the staff is very friendly and the food is of very high quality, a good choice.
Don't miss the Traditional Hong Kong Beef Brisket and the Sweet & Sour Pork. The French Toast also receives rave reviews. For something hearty, go for the Gyudon Sukiyaki Beef Bowl.
